(July 26, 2016) The 35th Pordenone Silent Film Festival directed by Jay Weissberg in collaboration with director David Robinson will be held in Pordenone starting October 8. The organisational engine is running and this year once again we ‘see’ far away. Vice President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Sergio Bolzonello confirms: “Pordenone Film Festival represents an important turning point from which a series of cultural initiatives began and that to this day characterise the scene in Pordenone, giving this region an international atmosphere”. Bolzanello spoke at the press conference for the event that will be hosted at the Verdi Theatre in Pordenone. The main events were presented by the new artistic director along with the organisers Livio Iacob and Carlo Montanaro. The Vice President of the region also underlined how “Pordenone and its surrounding area increasingly demonstrate their ability for organising cultural events of great importance to the region including from an economic perspective’. The outcomes of events such as the Pordenone Silent Film Festival ‘have important repercussions in the tourism sector of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Not only for the general public that it attracts but also for its ability in exposing the region abroad’. This festival’s 35th anniversary represents for Bolzanello ‘the ability to be able to read the dynamics of the region while projecting the city of Pordenone on international screens’. (Red)
