(August 3, 2016) Environmental cooperation between Italy and Lebanon is a go. In recent days it was held at the Ministry of Energy in Beirut the first meeting of the Joint Committe with the participation of Minister Arthur Nazarian, the Italian Ambassador in Lebanon, Massimo Marotti, the President of the Lebanese Center for Energy Efficiency ( LCEC) Pierre El Khoury and the general director for sustainable Development Francesco La Camera. The two environment ministries and the Lebanese Center for Energy Efficiency have developed an action plan that, as part of efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, mainly focuses on three aspects: innovative energy policies, promotion of sustainable and low-carbon technologies, innovative financial policies to support energy efficiency and renewable energy. To implement the Action Plan, Italy is committed to providing technical assistance in the fields of energy-efficient technologies, access to financial mechanisms promoted by international programs such as Med-Desire (which allow local authorities to implement low-carbon projects) and information and communication activities aimed at the public and private sector stakeholders.
