Rio – Solidarity flies with Alitalia. The Italian flying company has become the project partner of the project realized by the non-profit organization founded by Massimo Bottura, chef and owner of Osteria Francescana, recently named best restaurant in the world. The refectory project, devised by Food For Soul along with the Brazilian non-profit organization Gastromotiva, has created a ethical canteen in Lapa, a neighborhood in the center of Rio de Janeiro, where throughout the Olympics and the Paralympics 200 meals per day will be served to those in need, recovering the food surplus from the Olympic village. The gourmet meals in the refectory will be prepared by some of the best Italian chefs that have been offered the flight to Rio de Janeiro by Alitalia. The Italian company has also made available space for the project in the holds of their aircraft to Brazil to transport the material (crockery, cutlery, food) necessary for the commencement of activities in the refectory.
