(August 10, 2016) “Bruce Springsteen jeans and other American dreams” is the title of the book by Silvia Pareschi (Giunti), which will be presented in San Francisco on August 26 at the Italian Institute of Culture, as part of an event sponsored by the IIC in collaboration with the Italian school Institute. The author of the book will accompany the audience on a coast-to-coast trip in conversation with Viviana Devoto, a freelance journalist who writes for Wired Italy, Il Sole 24 Ore Group, Studio Magazine, Corriere.it, Pagina99. A mixture of memoir, reportage and fiction often hilarious and never dull, this book tells some lesser-known aspects and thanks to this perhaps particularly representative of a nation wide as a continent, and rooted in everyone’s imagination. Silvia Pareschi is one of the most famous and popular Italian translators from English. Among the many authors she translated: Jonathan Franzen, Don DeLillo, Cormac McCarthy, Zadie Smith. She lives between San Francisco and Lake Maggiore, where she was born. In addition to translating, she teaches Italian to Americans and recounts her experiences in the Nine hours of separation blog. “It may be that an American dream no longer exists, but if it is alive, it’s among unknown people who become friends meeting up in the desert, working as volunteers in a soup kitchen, or rescuing survivors in a destroyed city, that Silvia Pareschi tracks it down”, writes Ida Bozzi, reviewing the book for Corriere della Sera.
