(23 September, 2016) IMMURO City Skin exhibition opened at the Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney by the Italian photographer and designer, Riccardo Coppetta, also known as Ri.Co will remain open until September 29. The concept of “Immuro” draws inspiration from ancient city walls such as Beijing, Venice, Florence, Rome and London. Walls are living beings that undergo continuous changes transformations, becoming the skin of a city. They become its colour, its life, its history and its memory. Ri.Co. photographs various walls in famous cities, capturing urban fragments and transfer them onto silk, cashmere and other fabrics through a digital printing process. He creates blankets, tapestries, wall canvases, scarves, limited edition products tagged with a label with details of the product and serial number. Ri.Co. gained his fame in the world of fashion and design through his creations that have also been on display in Venice as a collateral event of the 2014 Art Biennale. The exhibition consists of 30 objects. The scarves and canvases will guide the viewer through an unexpected journey through the history of the most famous cities of the world. (Red)
