(October 11, 2016) The cycle of exhibitions dedicated to contemporary art at the Italian Institute of culture in Lisbon with the photography solo exhibit “Torre Velasca – architecture, history, uniqueness and vision” by Edoardo Romagnoli. The exhibition, part of the events organized for the sixteenth week of the Italian language in the world and the Contemporary Day 2016, will be inaugurated on Friday, October 14 at 19 at the Italian Institute of Culture. La Torre Velasca, a totem of the postwar Milan, immediately aroused conflicting opinions: the writer Luciano Biancardi called it “… glass and concrete ugly tower”, according to Philippe Daverio is “… an absolute masterpiece,” Vittorio Sgarbi admits “… tends not please me, is the paradigm of horror ” and the architect Stefano Boeri says ” the Tower is the invention of a new architecture. ” The artistic work of Edoardo Romagnoli refrain from judgment; it especially tends to show and enhance the features of the Tower. The first set of images consists of photographs printed in average size and is made by moving the machine and without the intervention of postproduction – typical of Romagnoli’s photographing. The supporting structures are multiplying and seem to lighten up to be transfigured in unreal figures. In the sequence of 18 images, printed in small size, what it is striking is the architectural work theatricality illuminated by Ingo Maurer. Edoardo Romagnoli lives and works in Milan. He started taking photographs during his travels and for several years he devoted himself to reportage. Since the 90’s he matured his research for expression and exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. The first picture of the moon dates back to 1988 and is the beginning of his best-known work of art research. The first solo exhibit was held in 1991 at “The Iris” by Lanfranco Colombo. In 2005 he took part in the group exhibition “The Masters of Photography” at the Guggenheim in Venice. (Red)
