Brussels. “The dutiful commemoration of our dead, 40 years after the disastrous earthquake in May and in September 1976 that struck the Friuli region, combining the memory of that ‘Friulian model’ of reconstruction and safeguarding of the social and economic fabric, to recover – today – the momentum of renewed values and the desire to continue to be a lively community.” The “Friuli model” and witnessing after forty years, the consistency of community values that mark the Friuli and all of Friuli Venezia Giulia, were the focus of the remarks by the president of the Region Debora Serracchiani and President of the Regional Council, Franco Iacop during the two inaugurations (the spaces of the liaison Office of the Region in Brussels and in the Maison on the Grand Place in Brussels) of the two photography exhibitions dedicated specifically to rescue efforts and the subsequent path to reconstruction of Friuli after the earthquake.
