(October 28, 2016) Piano, paper and pencil: that is how were born the thirteen tracks of “In Dreams Awake”, the new album of the Italian composer and conductor Gabriele Ciampi, released today worldwide, published by Universal. In the recording project, which came two years after the publication of “The Minimalist Evolution”, the composer who has enchanted Obama has captured all the music performed at the White House for the concert dedicated to the President of the United States: a year ago, in fact, he performed at the White House at the invitation of the First Lady Michelle – the first Italian composer to conduct his own music for the “White House for Holidays”. The record has also an intense Prelude “tribute” to Pope Francis on the occasion of the closing of the Jubilee of Mercy. The title says it all: “In Dreams Awake” is a way of being and feeling the emotions and transfer them through music. “Awake in dreams. The disc name – said Ciampi – represents this stage of my artistic life in which I begin to touch my dreams as they become real”. From Rome, his hometown, to Los Angeles, where he currently lives (for love and for study), the artist has exported its way of composing in the USA. “My journey goes on- says the artist – in the search for the essential: compose and build a harmonious and melodic fabric eliminating the superfluous. A complex and constant work of study and research to achieve the goal of stylistic simplicity. The artist has a duty to make simple what is not simply trying to convey in a few moments fragments of life that seem eternal”. The maestro Ciampi has also received rave reviews by Hillary Clinton in an impassioned letter during the campaign for the presidency: “I was happy to get his work and particularly pleased to learn all his success in America. He has my support to continue on this path “. Ciampi is an old-fashioned Italian composer and conductor: “All my music – he says – always starts with a tribute to classicism.” From “In Dreams Awake” (which gives its name to the disk) to “Lost Sunrise” and “Behind The Darkness”, from “Trio in B minor” Michelle ( “tribute” to the First Lady) to “Riomanza for Piano and Violin” and “Yuki”. And again: “Sextet in B-flat minor”, “Prelude for Two Cellos” (dedicated to Pope Francis), “Like a Wave”, “Close to my Soul”, “Adagio for Clarinet Solo” and “Spinning Dry”. The tracks on the album written by Gabriele Ciampi are performed by 30 young elements of its CentOrchestra, conducted by himself, founded in 2011. On New Year’s eve, Ciampi will hold a concert event at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome (at 18, Sala Petrassi ), where it will present the world premiere of the album. Pre-sales on Ticketone.it and on the Auditorium website are open. (Red)
