(November 22, 2016) It consolidates the collaboration between Italy and Japan to develop new joint advanced robotics projects, humanoid in particular, and to promote the exchange of professors and researchers. In Tokyo it has signed a new agreement between BioRobotics Institute of the Higher School Sant’Anna of Pisa and the Waseda University, one of the most prestigious universities in Japan for research quality. The agreement, sanctioned at the presence of Domenico Giorgi, Ambassador of Italy in Japan, aims above all to strengthen links between students, faculty and researchers of both institutions. The Italian delegation has reached Tokyo, also to keep seminars and lectures, sees the presence of Cecilia Laschi, considered one of the scientists that have contributed the most to the development of “soft” robotics. One of the objectives that the Institute of BioRobotics of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna want to achieve with this partnership concerns its doctoral students, to which it intends to offer the opportunity to complete the training course at Waseda University. Another important aspect is the partnership in research on the subject of humanoid robotics. This synergy, began some time ago, aims to create new opportunities in research and in overseas training of PhD students of the two institutions. Paolo Dario and Atsuo Takanishi, Director of BioRobotics Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and representative of “The Humanoid Robotics Institute and the Comprehensive Research Organization” Waseda University, have renewed their partnership, opening a new chapter in the relationship between two training and research bodies.
