(23 November, 2016) Tastes, aromas, tradition and history: Puglia too is a part of the first week “Italian Cuisine in the World” week- the initiative promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agricultural and Food and forestry Policies until November 27 in 105 countries. Apulia will be the focus in China: the Internationalisation Sector – Apulians in the World, part of the Apulian Regional government in collaboration with Apulian Way (Apulian association of China) has organised the event today “The Olive Tree, inheritance of our ancestors”. The Apulians in the World Sector recalls how “thanks to the involvement of the Italian diplomatic mission to Shanghai (Italian Consulate Generale, Italian Cultural Institute, ICE, Italian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce), the Apulian Way Association was able to propose the initiative to promote Apulian food, culture and sights”. Over the duration of the event held at Haworth Organic Workspace at 18:00 (Jing’An Kerry Centre, Tower 1, 32F) the film “Mare d’Argento” by Carlos Solito will be shown. The idea is to celebrate the magic of the olive tree in Apulia and to teach the Chinese audience about manor farms, the olive press, rock settlements in Fasan in the province of Brindisi and the stretch of land that extends from Gargano to Salento passing through Tavoliere and la Murgia. “The story of the olive tree, is on the one hand the celebration of tradition and culture- the continuation of the past. On the other hand, it is also a celebrating of modernity through the promotion of excellent extra virgin olive oil from Apulia, and of the importance of the Mediterranean diet. The event therefore ultimately seeks highlight that behind Apulian agricultural culture there is also a philosophy of life and a world vision- a way to think about human relations”. (red)
