(January 11, 2017) “Passeurs d’Europe”, intercultural event which proposes the reading of a dozen European poetry, is back in Lyon. Every year each participant chooses a poem in his/her native language, according to the theme chosen for the event. The selected poems from “Passeurs d’Europe” will be read in their original language, in French, and in a dozen languages by actors and students from different countries, accompanied by the Lyon Conservatory students. This year’s theme is Africa: the poetry chosen for Italy is from the “Diario D’Algeria” by Vittorio Sereni. Under the direction of filmmaker Gaëlle Konaté, the readers, from all over Europe, will lend their voice to the texts of the great poets, in the spirit of openness and dialogue between cultures. The event – scheduled for March 14 to 20 at the cultural center Espace Hillel Lyon – takes place within the festival “Printemps des Poètes” (March 4 to 19) and is organized by European cultural institutes operating in Lyon, the Conservatory of the city, Maison de l’Europe et des Européens, Amitiés France-Hongrie, the Culture Tree, Théâtre des Asphodèles. It takes place under the coordination of the Plateforme de la jeune création franco-allemande, in collaboration with the Espace Hillel and the support of the City of Lyon and the Rhône-Alpes Auvergne region.
