(12 January 2017) After Vratsa and Ruse (on display until January 15), Angela Occhipinti’s solo exhibition “Il mondo del miot e la spiritualità tra passato e presente” (The World of Myth and Spirituality of the Past and Present) will continue to tour in Bulgaria. The exhibition will in fact be at Plovdiv Gallery (from 3-9 February) followed by “Dimitar Dobrotich” Gallery of Sliven (from 1 to 31 March), and finally in the “Rafael Mihaylov” galleries in Veliko Turnovo (from 1 to 30 April) and at the Regional Historical Museum of Blagoevgrad (from 1 to 13 May). “The World of Myth and Spirituality of the Past and Present” is devoted to the history of the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, over the course of millennia. It will showcase a variety of works that are based on the four elements: air, water, earth, and fire. One of the pieces contains all the most significant dates of the birth of the city of Sofia until our times. Occhipinti, an icon of Italy’s contemporary art scene, has a long and distinguished career under her belt. In addition to numerous awards, she is also a renowned artist worldwide. In recent years, she was invited to hold lectures on engraving techniques and on artist books at the University of Chicago, Stockholm, Ankara, Istanbul, Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Rabat, Tainan, Taipei, Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Salta, and Sao Paulo. Her works can be found in private collections and museums of modern art in both Italy and abroad. (PO/ red)
