Strasbourg – At the outset of today’s plenary session in Strasbourg, the President of the EP Antonio Tajani spoke of the earthquake that hit central Italy: “On behalf of the Parliament I want to send a message of solidarity and I will do everything so that the European Commission can speed up the process to dispense the solidarity fund with our support. The situation is dire. The earthquake triggered a landslide that engulfed a hotel. I talked to the commanding general of the Financial Police. I thanked him for his work because you six hour of walking are a lot. I thank President Juncker and Commissioner Stylianidis for the closeness expressed. We will do everything to respond to citizens but especially as I was told by President of Civil Protection, they especially ask for solidarity. I thank you as Italian and especially as president of the European Parliament for the solidarity that you will want to send my compatriots. ” (9colonne)
