(3 February 2017) In 2017, the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid holds the presidency of the Eunic España cluster and “intends to underline the theme of Europe in many aspects if its programme” starting from the literary programme with the “Italy. An Idea of Europe” leit-motiv. For this reason, this year’s cycle of literary encounters “E3 + Encuentros Editores Escritores” is sub-titled “Caffè Europa”. 3 encounters are expected this month that underline in different ways, Italy’s and Spain’s strong affiliation with the European community. The programme started February 2 with “Europe before Eurpe. Baldassarre Castiglione in his time and our time” organised along with Einaudi Publishing house on the occasion of the publication of his collection of writings “Lettere famigliari e diplomatiche” author of “Il Cortegiano” (The Book of the Courier), Baldassare Castiglione. Scheduled for February 7 is the event “Essere scrittori in Europa oggi” (Being a writer in Europe today) in which three well-known Italian authors will participate in” Diego Marani, Marco Mancassola, and Chiara Mezzalama. They will talk about their experience as Italian authors who write and publish in Italian and who live in Belgium, England, and France respectively. Finally, the February events continue with the event “Padri e figli… in Europa” (Parents and their children… in Europe” with Filippo La Porta, a critic, journalist, essayist and author of the recent “Indaffarati” (Bompiani 2016) in which he analyses the generation of 20-year olds in an original way- a dialogue between parents and their children and his own generation, those born in the 1950s that lived through the period of generational dissent and who today find themselves living in the Internet age. He will be in discussion with the author Marcos Giralt Torrente, from Madrid, born in 1968, a member of the Spanish Academy in Rome and well-known throughout Italy. (Red)
