Beirut. The Deputy Secretary for Foreign Affairs Vincenzo Amendola is in Beirut for a series of official meetings with members of the new Lebanese government. Amendola has met with the Minister for Social Affairs, Pierre Bou Assi and renewed the Italian Cooperation’s support in order to be deal with the Syrian refugee crisis. The Deputy Secretary also met with the Minister for Water and Energy, Cesar Abi Khalil, who expressed Italy’s readiness to work towards a stable cooperation in the energy sector. In the afternoon four formal meetings followed for Amendola. The first with the Minister for Refugee Affairs, Mouin Merhebi, followed by a meeting with the Minister for Education, Marwan Hamade and the Finance Minister, Ali Hassan Khalil and finally with the Minister for Internal Affairs, Nohad Machnouk.
