La Valletta – The Italian navy’s sailing training ship Palinuro arrived today in Malta where it will remain until Saturday, and open to the public until Friday. The port visit in Valletta marks the start of the 53rd training campaign of the chief petty officers (CPO) cadets from the Italian navy CPO school located in Taranto. The cadets embarked on July 25 in Brindisi. Next ports of call include Greece, Turkey and then Cyprus, prior to going back to Italy, in Portoferraio, Tuscany. Today, at 15 o’clock, the commander of the ship, Captain Giuseppe Valentini, will present the ship and the Education Campaign, a key step for the student’s education as it represents the natural completion of the activities carried out during the academic year. While the ship is at sea, the cadets are trained in maritime navigation and seamanship sciences – in the process developing an esprit de corps, personnel management skills and the indispensable principles, ethos and traditions of the Italian Navy.
