London. An international research team formed by Vittorio Loreto and Francesca Tria from the Sapienza University of Rome discovered a new method for identifying the main structures of musical melodies from statistical principles. Loreto and Tria demonstrated this as a new method able to identify the fundamental association structures in a musical sequence. The model can also be used to artificially create musical pieces of the same style avoiding plagiarism. The study was published in the journal Scientific Reports. (9Colonne)
