Havana – “The Farnesina has finalized a 500,000-euro grant to the World Food Program (WFP) to support food programmes in Cuba” stated Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano. “These funds will go towards strengthening the national plan for preventing and controlling anemia through assistance to pregnant women, nursing mothers, girls, and children under the age of five”. “I am very pleased to see how our collaboration with the WFP in Cuba is developing and deepening. Food security is one of the areas of priority of the Italian Development Cooperation Programme in Cuba, as demonstrated by our bilateral cooperation programmes with the Cuban Government. It is therefore logical and appropriate to continue working in this sector with our partners at the multilateral cooperation level” according to the Italian Ambassador to Cuba, Andrea Ferrari, during the signing of the agreement between Italy and the WFP.
