Santiago de Chile. “Opening the frontiers to cultural exchanges brings economic wealth and peace of mind to the related countries. A successful example is that of the Book Fair of Santiago de Chile, which Italy participates in as guest country of honour surrounded by a large presence of authors, intellectuals, publishers and exponents of the trade show sector.” stated by Dorina Bianchi, the Undersecretary of State for Cultural Heritage and Tourism at the Chilean Cultural Event, where Italy presented a programme that is articulated in more than 200 activities in literature, art, language, music, and culture. During the fair, the Chilean audience was able to participate in numerous conferences and debates organised by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Institute of Culture on topical issues such as the migratory phenomena in the Mediterranean region and gender equality as well as a homage to some of the greats of Italian culture such as Umberto Eco and Pier Paolo Pasolini.
