(4 aprile 2018) The Italian Institute of Culture of Vienna, with the support of the Calabria Region and the collaboration of the Teatro Proskenion of Reggo Calabria, presents the theatre piece “La guerra di prima” (The War from Before) by and featuring Nino Racco and Vincenzo Mercurio on April 17th at the IIC. For the centenary of the First World War, the piece intends to remember the numerous fallen Italian soldiers on the battlefield. Most were semi-illiterate and victims of a massacre whose motivations and purposes were ignored. “La guerra di prima” also tells a paradoxical and funny story: two actors, Ciro and Antonio, are sent to the front, but only to entertain the soldiers during breaks in fighting. However, with their show they will oppose war with a dry “no”. (red)
