Johannesburg – The South African wine market has experienced considerable growth in recent years and Italy is second only to France in importation. Made in Italy and Italian food are particularly popular in the country, especially in the area of the city of Johannesburg. From November 30th to December 2nd the Consulate General of Italy, the ICE Office and the Italian-South African Chamber of Commerce organised an exhibition dedicated to Italian wine in Johannesburg as a response to this growing trend. The “Wines Of Italy” exhibition will take place in the pedestrian shopping area of Melrose Arch, one of the most exclusive places in the country and a usual destination for consumers accustomed to choosing niche and high quality products. Only Italian companies producing wines or liqueurs and their possible local distributors are admitted to the exhibition. The event will be accompanied by a programme aimed at introducing the South African professionals in the sector to the companies participating in the expo. In fact, meetings will be organised with local importers and distributors of wine and tastings at local restaurants or at other events. Participants will also be entitled to information dossiers on the South African wine market, a catalogue of companies participating in the sector will be disseminated. (9Colonne)
