Tokyo – The Italian Cultural Institute Tokyo will host a conference on “Leonardo da Vinci, Divine Artist” on April 15th by Daniele Macuglia, historian and researcher at the University of Chicago. When we speak of the Italian Renaissance one of the first names we think about is undoubtedly that of Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519). As a versatile man and versatile genius, he has excelled in more than one field, becoming an artist, inventor and scientist known throughout the world. To better understand the Renaissance genius, who fully embodied the spirit of his era, one cannot avoid exploring his childhood by focusing in particular on his education. After offering an overview of his adult life, Professor Macuglia will review, with the aid of screenings, three of Leonardo’s best-known works: Lady with an Ermine (currently at the National Museum in Krakow), The Last Supper (Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan) and La Gioconda (Louvre Museum, Paris), also creating rich connections with Leonardo’s anatomical and geometric interests (9colonne)
