(May 7) – “A strategic event for the future of the industry, which opens up very good prospects for cooperation between the upper Adriatic regions, in order to create a common policy that will ensure growth, biodiversity monitoring and profitability to companies operating in this part of the Mediterranean.”. So spoke Franco Manzato, commissioner for fisheries of the Region of Veneto at the opening of ‘Crofish’, the most important exhibition for the fisheries sector in Croatia. Manzato presented to the Croatian government to new Fish District of the Upper Adriatic, formed by the Region of Veneto, Friuli Venezia-Giulia and Emilia-Romagna and made official last February 27. “We presented to the Croatian friends – said Manzato – the program and the aims of a entirely Italian subject, fully aware that only with wide politics we will reach the common goal to protect and enhance this great biological, environmental and economic resource.” This level of governance has been crated to ensure a careful and planned management of marine resources and to promote partnership with producers and industries, in close collaboration with the Ministry. “With our three-year plan we intend to deal with industry priorities and concerns. We open up a new scenario, in which Croatia has the chance to work with a single Italian interlocutor to raise awareness of European institutions on issues of this area.” (Red/Peg)
