Oct. 3 – Where is the perfect ecosystem? Many international reviews have declared that it is the Bahamas, where the natural diversity and abundance is combined with constant care of environmental issues on the government’s part. It has been defined a “Hope Spot” for the environment. The “BACH – Bahamas, a Coral reef Hope spot” project was ideated by Maria Berica Rasotto, biology professor at the University of Padova. In the first months of 2013, the islands will become an open-air lab for Padova’s university students and their counterparts from the Bahamas. The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment that, in collaboration with the Bahamas National Trust, has organized a two-week expedition on Alfredo Giacon’s sailboat, Jancris. During the period, the students will observe the water ecosystem and learn from its sustainability in the long term.
