(16 Nov) – Ansaldo STS, a Finmeccanica company, has been awarded a contract from Western Australia’s Public Transport Authority (PTA) for the supply of the signalling system for a new stretch of the 7.5 km Perth train line. The new contract has a value of €14.7 million (17.9 million Australian dollars). Ansaldo STS will design and install the signalling system from Clarkson station (at the furthest north of Perth) to Butler. ATP (Automatic Train Protection) technology will
play a crucial role in the system. For now, it is estimated that the project will require approximately two years to be completed. The extension of the railway line to the suburb of Butler, 41 km from the heart of Perth, will be used by more than 2,000 additional passengers.
Ansaldo STS has been providing PTA solutions for signalling and rail transport for over 10 years. Founded in 1995, Ansaldo STS Australia has offices in Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Perth and Karratha.
