Dec. 7 – The residence of the Italian Ambassador to Tirana will host, this evening, the second edition of “Balkan Wine Expo,” the only Albanian trade event dedicated to the Balkan wine market. The region is experiencing steady economic and productive growth, with an intensification of fruitful exchanges with neighboring countries, first and foremost Italy. From 28 February to 1 March 2013, according to the Bacchus and Ariadne Green Tirana (Italian editor of Papageno, the international journal of food and wine) initiative, the Albanian capital will host, at the Sheraton Hotel, about 100 wineries and European consortia, with over 500 wines represented and a good predominance of Italian producers, including a large delegation from the Veneto region (which owns 50% of Italian wines). The international fair was established last year with the aim of creating new opportunities for market-oriented companies in the south-east Europe area. “Balkan Wine Expo” is directed exclusively to professionals (importers, distributors, wine, HoReCa, press, opinion leaders) and will be an opportunity to engage with new contacts and exchange business ideas with potential buyers. The event will also include a workshop involving operators from Albania and neighboring countries, and hosted delegations of businesspeople from Bosnia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Greece and Bulgaria.
