Feb. 19 – 2012 was a record year for Ferrari, the best in its 66 years of history. All major economic indicators have exceeded the goals set in 2008, despite the global economic market deterioration. 7,318 cars were delivered to the network (+4.5% compared to 2011) while the turnover was €2.433 billion (+8%). A growth rate of 12.1% was also recorded for the trading profit, now up to €350 million, with a net profit of nearly € 244 million (+17.8%) and return on sales confirmed at +14.4%. The scenario is then completed by the significant investments made in the last twelve months, including R & D which amounts to €324.3 million in the income statement (it was 280 million euro in 2011). “This is – according to a note from the company – a totally self-financed value, made possible thanks to the company’s great ability to generate cash flow, with a net cash position of more than €1 billion.” “It is a source of great pride for all of us, achieved despite a not favorable context in many European countries, if not hostile, as in Italy – said the president Luca di Montezemolo – The credit goes to the women and men of Ferrari, the strength of the brand, a range of innovative and comprehensive investments in technology and to the controlled expansion in the global automotive market.” Excellent results were also recorded for the broader brand (Retail, Licensing and E-commerce), which overall showed an increase in the operating margin of 40% – more than €50 million. In terms of Formula 1sponsorship, the first agreement with a Chinese partner – Weichai Power, Industrial Weichai Group company, one of the largest in China – should be mentioned, alongside the strengthening of ties with the world’s leading companies in their respective fields of activities such as Hublot, Kaspersky Lab and TNT.
