Feb. 25 – On the basis of an agreement between the Italian Red Cross and the Eritrean Ministry of Health, hospitals in Asmara will continue to receive materials: the Red Cross, with the support of the Committee of Pisa, tomorrow will send from Livorno to Florence another container directed to Edaga Hamus, historical hospital in Asmara, which is being revived after reconstruction. A good portion of the material was recovered thanks to the strong cooperation relationship between Policlinico di Careggi in Florence and the Tuscany Regional Committee of the Red Cross, to which the Central Committee has entrusted the final segment of the project. The official opening is scheduled for May and in upcoming weeks, the hospital will be provided with all the necessary equipment to be fully operative. The initiative represents only the first stage of a wider collaboration between Eritrean health authorities and Italian Red Cross, which will lead to the formation of skilled health personnel and the activation of the indispensable Ambulance Service.
