(25th mar) – Around 50 minutes to tell the Salesian presence in Tierra del Fuego, starting from the arrival of Bishop Joseph Fagnano in the Bay of San Sebastián. On February 20th and with this goal began the journey to Patagonia of Lucania’s production Naif Film for the shooting of the documentary “I Salesiani nella Terra del Fuoco” (Salesians in Tierra del Fuego). It covers the historical period that corresponds to the pioneering of the Order, when, following Don Bosco’s will, the missionaries went as far as they could to preach the Gospel in those areas that decades earlier hosted Charles Darwin. For this reason, the work is structured in two parts: the Salesian and missionary, and the scientific and Darwinian. Two paths that are developed along with the routes of the two actors: Diego Bottiglieri, who follows the Darwinian path starting his trip from Wlaia, a meeting place for Darwin and the Indians, until Punta Arenas; and Alessandro Vantini, who follows the steps of the Salesians. In December, the project will contribute to celebrate the first centenary of a monumental cross in the southernmost tip of Patagonia, Cape Froward, a promontory on the Strait of Magellan, and will premiere simultaneously in Punta Arenas, in Chile, and Turin, starting point of the Salesian dream.
