Apr. 12 – Scheduled until Sunday, the 2013 edition of the “China International Boat Show,” the Chinese motor industry dedicated to the recreational marine environment, will see ICE, the Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalization of Italian companies, organize a group of 33 companies. Among these, there are two of the most important districts of the marine industry in Italy: Liguria (with 13 companies) and Lombardy (with 6 companies). Participation in CIBS 2013 is included in the promotional program of the Agency and is subject to a special agreement with the Ministry of Economic Development, as part of the “Initiatives for the competitiveness of Made in Italy in the nautical sector” project. The aim is to promote Italian technological excellence in the production of leisure boats, their parts, accessories and equipment, in order to increase the degree of internationalization and the speed of recovery in the sector. China offers, in the nautical sector, an interesting opportunity for Italian companies. The yacht industry in China can be described as “rising”; as the living standards of the population continue to grow (50 million Chinese are “wealthy”), the nautical market is set to grow enormously. China has about 300,000 millionaires, but there are less than 1,000 yacht owners. “In the coastal area between the center and the south of China there are over 500 million people – said the Agency’s president, Riccardo Monti – It is thus crucial for us to be present in this country where there is a gradual and steady development of the port and nautical culture. Our boats can offer substantial added value – our know-how, design and unmatched taste can find significant room abroad, especially in a time of stagnation in the domestic market.”
