Sept. 12 – For seven years in a row, Pirelli has been confirmed worldwide leader in Auto Components ATX indexes of the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Dow Jones Sustainability Europe, with 85 points compared to an industry average of 51 points. Considered for the ranking, there are the economic and financial performance, as well as the environmental and social sustainability that together determine the future of the organization. “Pirelli’s sustainability model – says the company – is inspired by the Global Compact of the United Nations (a global forum launched in 1999 by Secretary General Kofi Annan to promote corporate social responsibility), in which Pirelli has been an active member since 2004, and the ISO 26000 Guidelines on corporate Social Responsibility. Working to ensure long-term responsible development – according to the Code of Ethics in 2003 and provided to all affiliates of the Group – in the full knowledge of the links and interactions between the economic, social and environmental impacts requires leadership in research and development of ‘green’ technologies and products, anticipating market demand. We strive to conjugate value creation, progress of society, concern for our stakeholders, raising the standard of living and quality of the environment.” Pirelli’s sustainable performance put into words each year through the sustainability report, to communicate achievements and new challenges to all stakeholders of the Group.
