Oct. 31 – “Napoli continues to give a lot to Italy, Europe and the world: it exports hundreds of scientists, intellectuals, researchers, artists, filmmakers… All with generosity, but out of necessity as well. And Naples receives little from the rest of the world,” once said French historian Fernand Braudel, author of the famous opera “The Mediterranean.” But the time has come to reverse this trend through initiatives such as “Naples in Shanghai – Loro di Napoli,” which will be held in the Chinese city from Saturday 2 to Sunday 10 November. This is the first event to promote Naples’ economic, industrial, and cultural productions in eastern China. It aims at attracting Chinese investment and tourism to the Neapolitan region, and is promoted by the Naples Industrial Union, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai via the Embassy in Beijing), and ICE, who through its Shanghai office oversaw the sessions dedicated to companies, in collaboration with the CCPIT (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade). Within the framework of the broad program, there are B2B meetings between Chinese and Campania entrepreneurs, a focus on investment opportunities and tourism promotion, a Festival dedicated to Neapolitan pizza, bilateral academic cooperation opportunities between the University of Eastern Studies “L’Orientale” in Naples and China Eastern University, events with two detective stories writers, Maurizio de Giovanni and Qiu Xiaolong, a screening of Neapolitan films, a seminar on the marine environment with the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, the inauguration of an exhibition organized by Naples architects and an art exhibition. The Shanghai Mission saw the participation of the President of the Naples Industrial Union, Paolo Graziano, alongside his vice president for Internationalization, Mariella Bottiglieri.
