(Jan. 6) – The Italian contingent in Lebanon, and specifically the Brigade “Grenadiers of Sardinia” has donated to the people of Rmeich, a small city of about 10,000 inhabitants in the southern part of the Country, a platform for roads maintenance and repair. During a brief but meaningful ceremony, which took place last Friday, Colonel Mauro Arno, head of the Civil Military Cooperation Command’s Joint Task Force Lebanon, and Michel Choufani, Deputy Mayor of Rmeich, were both present. On this occasion, Choufani warmly thanked the Italian peacekeepers for their constant support to the population and their cooperation with local institutions. Population support is one of the fundamental pillars of the UNIFIL presence in Lebanon, and the men and women of the “Grenadiers of Sardinia” Brigade are focusing their efforts in this direction.
