Jan. 8 – In 2001, the acronym BRIC was coined to refer to the emerging economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China, to which South Africa was then added. Today, the rising stars of globalization are Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey, renamed MINT. The companies in the province of Varese seem to have understood the potential of this market, where export value grew by 35.5% from 2008 to 2012, according to figures provided by the Varese Chamber of Commerce. A particular growth was registered in 2011-2012 (+54.5 %) due to a significant growth in exports to Turkey and Nigeria. And indeed Turkey can be considered a well-established business partner for Varese entrepreneurs. The other three countries also reveal some peculiarities: the most promising is Mexico for both volumes and the continuity of the results; Indonesia, in 2013 did not showing a positive growth rate, but is the lease dependent country transport vehicles imports, which can radically change from year to year and affect Italian export performance. In particular, Indonesia has high demand for metal products and machine tools; vice versa Nigeria expresses a strong and variable demand in transport, with different performances from year to year. Also in Nigeria, there has been an increase in the demand of pipes and plastic sheets, taps and valves, and electricity, gas and water meters.
