Apr. 25 – Licinio Refice is one of the greatest reformers of sacred music. He was born in 1883 in Patrica, a town in the province of Frosinone, and died in September 1954 in Rio de Janeiro. Today – nearly 60 years after his death – Buenos Aires has decided to pay tribute to the famous composer, well known and loved by audiences worldwide. The event – sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute – is scheduled for Thursday, May 15. Refice – as noted by the IIC website – had the merit of bringing sacred music to levels of excellence, merging genres like no one before him. 60 years after his death, occurred while he was directing “Cecilia,” his most famous opera, the IIC celebrates Refice with a biographical journey that will include music, photographs, videos and interviews. The project is curated by Marta Rossi, who invites the public to dive into a world made up of notes and and a life spent in music.
