Tokyo – Italian extra virgin olive oil is increasingly appreciated in Japan, and on Saturday, May 17, “Olio Capitale” will be presented in Tokyo at the Joop – Japan Olive Oil Prize. Olio Capital is an exhibition for extra virgin olive oils from Trieste that will bring to Tokyo all the Italian olive oils that won the last edition of Olio Capitale. Thus, the exhibition will promote Italian excellence abroad. The Joop award was born last year as part of the Italian olive oil day organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan to celebrate one of the most popular food imports. The event promotes olive oil in the Japanese market through workshops, tastings and seminars. Olio Capitale will bring to Tokyo the best extra virgin olive oils from last year: Castro (Castro oil company) from Sicily, Ortice Riserva (Frantoio Romano) from Campania, and the Armonia-Le Tre Colonne selections (Salvatore Stallone Company) from Puglia, all judged the best in their respective categories at the 2013 Olio Capitale Competition.
