June 4 – Croatia looks to Italy’s beauty with the exhibition “Italian Landscapes: Photographs 1950 – 2010,” held on the occasion of Croatia’s Republic Day, and inaugurated at the Galleria Klovicevi dvori in Zagreb. The exhibition will remain open until July 10. For the inauguration, many institutional representatives were present, including: the President of the Regional Council of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Franco Iacop, Italian Ambassador to Croatia, Emanuela D’Alessandro, and the Croatian Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Hrvoje Marusic. The research and photography archive center of Lestans set up the exhibition in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb. After its residency in the Croatian capital, the exhibition will be transferred to Zadar, in the Knezeva palaca from September 4 to October 4. It will then move to Slovenia, in Koper and Ljubljana. “I’m always happy when I come to Croatia, – said Iacop – a land that unites and binds in history, culture and traditions. The new Europe, in which Croatia is a full member, opens up new horizons, new hopes, and new possibilities: it is our goal to create the conditions for the real development of all communities in this new Europe.” The exhibition’s inauguration was also the occasion of a meeting between President Iacop and the Vice-Minister Marusic, who spoke mainly about how to increase international cooperation and European programs involving the two realities.
