July 23 – A forum dedicated to the young Italian architects abroad to discuss new emigration, talent, perspectives, art and architecture. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24 at the Architecture Gallery of the Bologna Exhibition Centre. Two young talents – Simona Malvezzi and Nadir Bonaccorso – during the meeting will confront themselves with Fulvio Irace, architect and professor of architectural history at the Polytechnic of Milan. Simona Malvezzi, born in 1966, is the head, with brothers Kuehn, of the Kuehn Malvezzi Architekten studio in Berlin. They met in Austria, where they participated and won a competition together. They have at length worked on the relationship between art and architecture, producing numerous projects, such as the Belvedere in Vienna. In Berlin, they recently won the first prize in a competition aimed at designing a worship building that will bring under one roof the three monotheistic religions: a synagogue, a mosque and an evangelical church. Simona Malvezzi lives in Milan but goes regularly to Berlin and in other cities, such as Munich, where she is following the construction of a new shopping center. Nadir Bonaccorso, born in 1967, graduated in 1993 from the Department of Architecture of the Polytechnic of Milan. He worked in the studio of João Luis Carrilho de Graca until 1996. Later he founded his own studio NBAA (Nadir Bonaccorso Arquitectos Associados) in Portugal, where he began working on passive solar energy in architecture, a form of energy that collects and stores solar energy. Bonaccorso then extended his work to solar panel design and fittings. Bonaccorso has been invited to present his projects at major international universities and is the winner of many awards.
