Nov. 5 – Cinema is a dream, a fairy tale, a fantasy, art, but it is also an industry. And now Italy has begun associating the septième art to concepts such as “internationalization”, “distribution” and “buyers” as it prepares to host an event dedicated to cinema professionals. Distributors and manufacturers from forty-five countries, seven hundred accredited members of the press, twenty-four selected projects, a “China Day”, an initiative dedicated to remakes, meetings, panels and conferences all at the Roman “International Film Market,” scheduled for November 13-17. The International Film Festival of Rome is dedicating a week to film industry professional yet again. For its 8th edition, Via Veneto, the famous street of La Dolce Vita, will host “The Business Street” (TBS) and “New Cinema Network” (NCN), strategic platforms for the commercial launch of new films and the circulation of Italian cinema abroad and encourage international cooperation on production projects. Thanks to the support and cooperation of ICE – the Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian firms – and a partnership with ANICA, International Film Market strengthens its role among international events targeted at the cinema industry. “It is a pleasure for us to work alongside the Fondazione Cinema per Roma and make our contribution to increase the international scope of the Festival’s industry – said the president of ICE, Riccardo Monti – Among numerous buyers and producers participating in The Business Street and New Cinema Network, about fifty professionals from around the world will be invited by the Agency through its network abroad to create business opportunities for Italian companies and facilitate future co-production projects. The audiovisual sector – continued Monti – is important because it is a great national industry, worth €10 billion, employing 200.000 people and generating quality products. It is an industry that produces content for export and it is a driving force to promote and talk about Italy and the Italian way of life. The ICE Agency invests heavily on the sector: through agreements with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Anica and the Cinecittà Luce Institute, it supports the audiovisual through promotional activities and guaranteeing a presence at important international events, such as the Toronto Film Festival and the Cannes MIP COM.”
