Aug. 29 – Fragments of ancient Greek-roman statues, temple columns, and historical ruins appear in the remote moors, where industry sets the time. An “industrial Pompeii” in which two archeologies, one classical and one from the twentieth century, come together for the exhibition “The great country,” by Milanese artist Giovanni Cerri. The show will be inaugurated at the Italian Cultural Institute in Cologne on September 5 (7pm) and will remain open until September 26. The exhibition is dedicated “to an epochal crisis that highlights difficulties, contradictions and confusions. Paintings represent classical heritage, a civilization that was great in bygone eras and is now consumed. We are now at a turning point and that beauty is decaying, but it’s still there to give us the courage to restart.”
