Oct. 24 – Among the most important events of the XXIV edition of the Month of Photography in Bratislava, there is the inauguration of a retrospective on Gabriele Basilico. The exhibition, scheduled for October 28 at the City Gallery of Bratislava, was organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava, and is curated by Walter Guadagnini. The event offers an important moment to reflect on Basilico’s favored themes, linked to industrial landscapes and urban areas. Over the course of the 14th edition of the Week of Italian Language in the World, the Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava has booked the Artforum library for the presentation of the Slovak translation, by Miroslava Vallová, of the novel “Accabadora” by Michela Murgia. Murgia, winner of the Dessi, Super Mondello and Campiello awards, also authored “Il mondo deve sapere. Romanzo tragicomico di una telefonista precaria,” published in 2006 by Isbn. This novel inspired Paolo Virzi’s movie “Tutta la vita davanti,” and a theatrical adaptation by David Emmer, starring Teresa Saponangelo. In 2008, Einaudi published Murgia’s narrated guide “Viaggi in Sardegna, undici percorsi nell’isola che non si vede.” In 2011, Michela Murgia published her theological essay “Ave Mary. E la Chiesa inventò la donna.”
