Oct. 27 – Prospect New Orleans, conceived as a natural extension of the great international exhibitions like the Venice Biennale and the Bienal de São Paulo, aims to provide a showcase for new artistic practices. Within Prospect New Orleans, Prospect.3, organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles and the Consulate General of Italy in Houston, will present the works of more than fifty American and international artists belonging to different generations and working in all media. The event will remain open to the public until January 25. This year, each artist will have an independent showcase area in New Orleans. Piero Golia, whose sculptures often treat the ephemeral nature of existence, will be representing Italy. Golia is currently working on a challenging project in which sculpture blends with experimental theater (the sculptor-artist is juxtaposed to the artist on the stage). This design consists of four acts represented in various locations. The third act of “The Comedy of Craft” – this is the name of the project – will be represented in New Orleans during this edition of Prospect.3. (Paf)
