Nov. 13 – To celebrate twenty years of wonderful performances, the National Rai Symphony Orchestra is embarking on a new tour of Germany and Switzerland. Between Nov. 15-19, the Orchestra will perform live in five concerts in some of the most prestigious concert halls of Europe: the Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich, the Kölner Philharmonie in Cologne, the Zurich Tonhalle, the Stadtcasino of Basel, and the Tonhalle in Dusseldorf. The Orchestra will take the audience on a journey through classical and contemporary music – passing by the great works of Respighi, Berio, Rossini and Tchaikovsky. The overall experience is enriched by the presence of Maestro Juraj Valcuha and the great soloists pianist Arcadi Volodos and violist Antoine Tamestit. The National Rai Symphony Orchestra was born in 1994, performing its first shows under the direction of Georges Prêtre and Giuseppe Sinopoli. Since then, the original team grew, bringing in some of the best musicians out there. Since November 2009, the Slovak Juraj Valcuha is the new principal director. (Red)
