San Antonio – Laura Beani, Associate Professor of Zoology at the University of Florence, is guest editor in the special issue of Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews (NBR) on “Beyond sexual selection: the evolution of sex differences from brain to behavior”. Beani oversaw an editorial with developmental biologist Marlene Zuk in which they emphasize the unconventional aspects of sexual selection, which has shaped bizarre behavior, the neuroendocrine system, and the brain in animal males: spiders, insects, fish, birds, human and nonhuman primates.
