Zagreb – What a few weeks ago was only hope, is today a certainty. Manfred Moelgg will be among the seven Italian athletes to race in the men’s slalom competition scheduled in Zagreb on January 6. Last summer, on August 19, Moelgg fell after a jump during a training session, and the thirty-two year old financier from San Vigilio di Marebbe tore his Achilles tendon in his right leg. Operated in Bressanone the following day, Moelgg worked hard and after just 140 days he has completed his physical recovery in record time, unprecedented in the history of sports for this kind of injury. “I remained positive all the way – comments Moelgg – I trained as best I could, trying to recover quickly, but also remaining aware of my limits and how dangerous it would be to race if my body wasn’t ready. In December I realized that things improved when I started training with the rest of the team, when I was also the forerunner in the Gran Risa in Alta Badia. I have two chances now: Zagreb and Adelboden, obviously I’m not thinking of the World Cup just year, because I need to understand what my new starting point is. “(9Colonne)
