17 July, 2015 – The future of Moravia has close cooperation with Italy in it: the Italian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Aldo Amati, accompanied by the President of the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce Gianfranco Pinciroli, met in recent days the Regional President of Moravia Michal Hasek and the Mayor of Brno Petr Vokral. The four discussed the Italian presence in infrastructure projects that will invest in the area in coming years: highways, railways, airport projects should be accompanied by new initiatives in the tourism sector. The goal is to overcome the “Prague-centric” vision that characterizes the flow of Italian tourists to the Czech Republic. With the Mayor of Brno, the Italians also discussed three important infrastructure projects: the reconstruction of the stadium, the construction of a concert hall, and the renovation of the railway station. For each of these works Vokral called for Italy’s interest, also asking to identify a city that could forge a twinning partnership with Brno. “We are considering the possibility of appointing an honorary consul to strengthen activities in view of the strong development of the Moravia Region, and to follow more closely the infrastructure projects planned for the coming years,” explained Ambassador Amati, stressing that some important Italian industries such as Nova Molisana (Marzotto group) and Siad (gas sector) are already operational in the territory. “Moravia is the heart of the Czech Republic’s production sector, and represents an important investment opportunity for all Italian companies, starting from SMEs. My interlocutors have expressed strong support for the efforts of the Italian system in the Czech Republic,” continued the Italian diplomat at the end of meetings with local institutions. (Red)
