Luxembourg – In the face of the migrant crisis worsening of recent days, the Foreign Ministers of Italy, Paolo Gentiloni, Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and France, Laurent Fabius, signed a document calling for a strong European response to the crisis. The very articulate document highlights how, in the light of the limitations and shortcomings clearly shown by the current system of European asylum rules, created 25 years ago, it is necessary to revise its content and implementation. The three ministers also stressed the need to achieve the goal of a fair distribution mechanism of refugees in Europe. The document was sent to the High Representative of the European Union, Federica Mogherini, with the request that the topic be discussed on September 4-5 in Luxembourg during the informal meeting of Foreign Ministers of the European Union.
