Melbourne – “”The production of olive oil is one of the Italian traditional activities that have most marked our presence in the world,” said the Consul General in Melbourne Marco Maria Cerbo on the occasion of the award ceremony of “Il Grande Olio d’Olive 2015.” The competition was organized by the Consulate General and by the furniture house Schiavello (the largest producer of office furniture in Australia), whose owner was recently awarded a major Italian honor. The Schiavello owner is of Calabrian origin and participated in the competition with his own oil. In one of the best restaurants along the Yarra River in Melbourne, a jury of experts selected the best of the oils produced by seven Italian-Australian families, all businessmen and professionals. These entrepreneurs produce oil for passion and to maintain a link with the traditions of their homelands: Sicily and Calabria. (9Colonne)
