November 17th, 2015 – Il Volo, the trio starring Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, has won over international audiences (in May, the three will be back on tour in the United States and Latin America). But there are many other Italian groups collecting successes abroad. An example? The Talco, a group from Marghera that has performed at Fuji Rock in Japan and in the Millerntor Stadium of Spain, with sold out gigs in Berlin, Hamburg, Madrid and Bilbao… There are also the 7Grani: three brothers from a small town in the province of Como. Some of their songs have topped the web radio charts in America and Australia. And then there are The Sun, the first Italian Christian rock band, applauded in Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia and Japan. And in Japan, in the name of good music, the Palermo band Utveggi will play eight concerts: from Tokyo to Kawasaki, with a stop in the Japanese music club Hot Shot Okubo and at the Ruby Room Shibuya. It will be a first for the Palermo band in Japanese territory, who are performing on November 19 at The Quarter House Akasaka. The band – whose name refers to the Utveggio castle of Palermo – will close the tour on November 29 with a gig at the 7th Floor of Shibuya. The Sicilian group, formed by Valerio Mirone (vocals), Simon Giuffrida (guitars, vocals), Bruno Pitruzzella (guitars, vocals), Luca La Russa (bass, vocals) and Giuseppe Montalbano (drums, vocals), will present their latest work, an album called “Utveggi” that alternates songs in Italian and Japanese. The band will be shadowed by videomaker Mariscalco Alessandro, who has previously collaborated with Utveggi and who will make a documentary of the experience, set up by the agency management E-TalentBank. Upon returning from the trip, Utveggi will start recording their third album, which will come out in 2016 for the label Almendra Music. (Gil)
