December 17th, 2015 – After three hard years, the Italian electrical engineering and electronics sees the light at the end of the tunnel abroad. Despite a weak international scenario, exports remain a driving force, giving the first signs of revival for the domestic market. Anie Confindustria estimates a total turnover in the electro-technical and electronics industry for 2015 with an annual increase of about 3%, with total exports registering a growth of 5%. This result is largely due to the ability of operators to intercept growth opportunities in markets with high growth potential and characterized by large infrastructure investments. Of the total Italian electrical and electronics manufacturers, exporting companies now account for over 40% (with a 20% share on average in manufacturing). Half of these are small and medium-sized enterprises, and the ratio of exports to total sales is greater than 55% (it was just over 40% a decade ago) and its worth has increased from less than €10 billion a decade ago to nearly €16 billion in 2014. Exports to non-EU countries ten years ago accounted for just over 30% of the total, in 2014 is higher than 45%. The regions identified as the most promising in 2016 for the Italian Electrical and Electronics Industry include Africa, followed by the Middle East, North America and emerging Asia. There’s also a strong interest in Iran, in view of the gradual easing of economic sanctions, and the destination country of a commercial mission before summer. All data were disclosed during the open days on the international activities of Anie Confindustria, held in the Milan office of the Italian Trade Agency, now in its 3rd edition. The event was also an opportunity to present the full program of international initiatives planned for 2016, which sees the Federation hold an increasingly important role in organizing missions, fairs and initiatives dedicated to the promotion of the sector.
